Progressive Molding Technologies offers a variety of inventory solutions. What we don’t offer is holding finished goods inventory. A lot of injection molding companies will hold significant amounts of finished goods inventory because their manufacturing processes are not flexible or fast enough to respond to customer demand. These companies will run several months worth of parts for their customers and hold them in their warehouse. The problem with this approach is that if you have an engineering change or a quality issue is discovered, now you have several months worth of parts that you can’t use. Additionally, holding a large amount of finished goods inventory leads to inventory carrying costs, which ultimately leads to increased part costs.
At Progressive Molding Technologies, we build to order. We have good processes, good molds, good machines, and a great team that can produce high quality parts quickly and efficiently. We strive to provide our customers with whatever they need. If customers require lean manufacturing, we will work with their system. If they want to do customer-owned inventory and order fulfillment we can work with their system. Or if they want to do traditional ordering that we ship, we can accommodate a customers’ needs. We are willing to be flexible to meet customers’ requirements. Additionally, based on our knowledge and expertise we can help our customers order more effectively. Our systems provide us with great visibility of our customers’ ordering frequency and we can analyze and often spot situations where a customer has missed an important order to maintain their supply. We reach out to customers to inquire if they are aware of the situation and offer to respond to bring their supply back to normal levels.
